SHREVEPORT, LA - A Memorial service for Robert (Bobby) M. Roden, 70, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 522 E. Flournoy Lucas Road, Shreveport, LA 71115. Officiating will be Deacon Mike Whitehead. There will be a reception immediately following the service in the Burleigh Center at the Church.
Robert was born on September 14, 1944 in Marshall, TX to Dr. Aubrey Henry Roden and Joanne Roden McKeon and passed away suddenly on December 27, 2014. Robert is preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his sisters; Kirby Anne Duzan, Sue Birchfield, Mary Alice Junkin and Debra Notzon; nieces, Hollie Robichaux, Ashley Robichaux, Kaitlin Robichaux, Cheri Brittain and Natalie Brittain; nephews, Brian Robichaux, Daniel Duzan and Donovan Brittain; also numerous cousins.
Robert proudly served in the US Navy as a Medic during the Vietnam Conflict. He continued serving his country in the Naval Reserves. After returning home he worked for Arkla Gas for 35 years before retiring. He was currently working in the IT department at LSU Health Science Center. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed painting and music. Robert had a love for animals of all kinds especially cats. He was a regular at Murrell's and George's Grill. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Honoring Robert as Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Duzan, Paul Notzon, Michael Brittain, Donovan Brittain and Eric Byrd.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, Autism Speaks or your local ASPCA.
