SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for Rockelle Bogan, 87, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at New Ebenezer Cemetery in Castor, LA. Rev. Crawford Williams and Rev. Wayne Deslatis will officiate. The family will be receiving visitors on Friday, April 8, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside.
Rockelle was born on November 2, 1928 in Castor, LA to Albert and Gertrude Cheatwood Bogan and passed away on April 7, 2016. Rockelle never met a stranger and for many years he and several friends visited the hospitals daily, praying and lifting the spirits of many, many people. He also loved to play the guitar and had several bands. He was faithful to play at the area nursing homes. Rockelle felt that he received a blessing by visiting the hospitals and nursing homes.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 30 years, Dorothy Green Bogan, sisters, Sylvia McCain and Ruth McElroy, brother, Mack Bogan, and brother-in-law, Glen McCain. Those left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Al "Peyton" Bogan and wife, Christine of Shreveport, LA, and Bud Bogan and wife, Virginia of Castor, LA; sister, Shine Warren and husband, Nathan of Castor, LA; brother-in-law, Bobby Neil McElroy of Jamestown, LA; 10 nephews and 3 nieces; special friends, Betty Hillier, Glynn Hooper and James Thomason, and a host of relatives and friends.
Honoring Rockelle as pallbearers will be Glynn Hooper, James Thomason, Lamar Nunnery, Mark Johnson, Mike Walden, and Denny Morrison.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to Kingston Road Baptist Church, 8900 Kingston Rd., Shreveport, LA 71118.
