Arcadia - A private graveside service will be held for Rodney L. Cook, 83, at 2 p.m. on the 20th of April 2020, at Hurricane Cemetery. Rev. Jeff Hoffman will officiate. Rodney was born November 6, 1936 in Arcadia, Louisiana to Rachel and Roy Cook. He went to be with the Lord on April 17, 2020. Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Rachel and Roy Cook and son Andrew Kirk Cook. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Faye B. Cook, daughter Rachel Kyle and husband Glen, brother Billy Roy Cook, grandchildren Trent Ellis, Riley Spradlin, and Caleb Kyle and wife Maggie. Rodney graduated from Arcadia High School and attended Louisiana Tech University majoring in Commercial Art. Rodney worked in the Gas Industry for 40 years and retired as a Supervisor. He was a talented artist, wood carver, and writer. He enjoyed planting flowers and working in the yard and garden. Rodney was the founder of the Possum's Unlimited Festival in Arcadia that raised money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The Possum's Unlimited Festival put Arcadia in the national spotlight when CNN came to town to cover the event. Rodney wrote articles for the Morning Paper and the Bienville Democrat for almost 40 years. He was a community handy man and would gladly build or fix just about anything for anyone. He enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball and being around people young and old. Rodney was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church Arcadia in which he named and taught the Maverick Sunday School Class for over 15 years. He was honored in 2015 with the Bienville Parish Chamber of Commerce Heritage Award. Rodney was a kind and gentle man. He loved life and spending time with family and friends. He had a sense of humor like no other. He adored his children and grandchildren with all his heart. His favorite pastime was being with his grandchildren, supporting them in life and following them throughout all their sporting activities. Pallbearers will be Trent Ellis, Caleb Kyle, Chris Caskey, Zack Pickett, John Curtis, John Martin Honorary Pallbearers will be Charlie Anderson, Jerry Caskey, Tom Newlen, Bud Bass, Glenn Fallin, Dale Halverson, Sam Wilkerson, Bill O'Kelly, Bobby Joe King, Maverick Sunday School Class FBC Arcadia In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Arcadia
