HOMER, LA: Funeral services were held for Mr. Rodney White, 86, at First Baptist Church of Homer on Thursday, September 17, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Brian Thurman and Rev. Andy Prince officiating. Interment followed at Arlington Cemetery. The family received friends in the Chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home at 405 East 5th Street in Homer, LA, on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m.
Mr. White was born in Minden, LA, on July 2, 1929, to Gus and Jodie White. He entered into rest Tuesday, September 15, 2015, in Homer, LA, following a long illness. Mr. White lived in the Crossroads Community growing up, but left home when he was 16 years old and started operating heavy equipment in Shreveport, LA. This occupation was one he continued throughout his working days. Mr. White was a loving father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend that would do all he could for someone in need. He owned and operated several construction companies in Claiborne Parish and loved working with his cows on the farm.
Mr. White was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ralph White; and two sisters, Dimple Averett and Kitty Kirkpatrick.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Linda Alspaugh White; a son, Jamie White and wife Lori of Athens, LA: four daughters, Stephanie Sims and husband Brian of Homer, LA, Joyce Tarter and husband Randy of Bella Vista, AR, Rhonda Kendrick and husband Mike of Haughton, LA and Kathy Royer and husband Monte of Bernice, LA; eight grandchildren, Gunner Griffith, Dacoda Skinner, Saydie Sims, Dakota Royer, Levi Royer, Laurie Morgan, Amber Beatty and husband Justin, and Brian Kendrick and wife Alisa; five great-grandchildren, Tucker, Easton, Knox, Alanna and Corbin; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Jake Tabor, John Skinner, Keith Smith, Whit Perry, Keith Owens and Jimmy Bailey.
Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Perry, Monte Royer, Keith Gantt, Wayland Smith, Grady Douglas, Jim Crisler and Brian Sims.
