Ronald “Ron” Dexter Davis was a strong, supportive husband, father, grandfather, uncle, son, colleague and friend. He left his Earthly body and passed on to the Heavenly realm on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at the age of 65.
He was born to Sammy and Shelby Davis on May 1, 1959, joining big brothers Keith and Raymond and welcoming little sisters Carmen and Kayla several years later. He was a shy, smart boy with an interest in how things work. He took that interest and turned it into a lifelong hobby and profession—building, fixing, tinkering and solving problems both at home and work. What seemed difficult or impossible to others had a clear solution in Ron’s brilliant mind.
Ron spent the majority of his career as General Manager at Inferno Manufacturing. The right hand to Allen Organick, Ron managed business operations and personnel with a graceful and exacting touch. His perch from the office never excluded him from a place in the shop, where he was just as comfortable and capable with machinery and measurements as he was with software and systems. Ron took extreme pride in his work and in his relationships with his colleagues.
The joy of Ron’s life was his family: wife, René, and children Brad, Kandi, LeeAnn and Leslee. A big, blended family, their house was loud, warm, joyful and full of song. He was blessed to know and love his grandchildren, and in the role of Grampa to Parker, Bentley, Aaron, Elainah, Charlie, Blue and Maren, he came alive and softened in a way that renewed his wife and children’s affection for him.
Ron and Rene’s example of companionship and love stands out above the rest. They built a life of deep love, care and selflessness, manifesting a network of “chosen family” that extends far and wide. Always ready to serve and support friends, while being sure to have fun and keep people smiling. Ron’s presence was strong; his voice clear and present; his jokes cutting through the noise; his praise or admonition shared in order to build someone up. He was the anchor of his family and while his passing leaves a huge hole in their lives, they all remain committed to honoring his example of how to live life joyfully in the service of others.
Ron is preceded in death by his father, Samuel O. Davis, and survived by his wife, René; children, Brad wife Lora and their children Aaron and Elainah, Kandi her children Parker and Bentley, LeeAnn husband Eric and their children Charlie and Blue and Leslee husband Austin and their child Maren; nephew Wesley and niece Brianna husband Lucus and their children Lenox and twins; mother, Shelby; siblings Keith, Raymond wife Sherri, Carmen husband Jim and their child Amber and Kayla husband Ronnie and their children Jonathan and Bryan; bonus children Ivy and Clay French and their child Andy Kate, Candy and Troy Murrell and their children AJ, Little Troy, Chris Candido, and Neima DiGrazia; along with numerous other family members; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ron will be remembered and honored in a memorial service and celebration of life on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at Robinson Film Center, 617 Texas St, Shreveport, LA 71101.
