Ronald Lee Oakes

Funeral services honoring the life of Ronald Lee Oakes will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 2, 2021 at Grace Community United Methodist Church, 9400 Ellerbe Road, Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Reverend Betsy Eaves. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will immediately follow the service at Forest Park Cemetery West, 4000 Meriwether Road, Shreveport, Louisiana. Ronald Oakes was born June 9, 1934 in Sparta, Tennessee to Powell and Florine Oakes and passed away peacefully, Monday, June 28, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Ronald was a graduate of Tennessee Technological University and worked with the Boy Scouts of America for 34 years as a national executive. He was an avid golf player and enjoyed being with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Martha Oakes; and brother, Bob Oakes. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 65 years, Janice Cowden Oakes; sons, Mike Oakes and Bruce Oakes; brother, Jim Oakes; grandchildren, Jennifer Bayton and husband, Evan, Amanda Crowder and husband, Cody, and Dalton Oakes and wife, Meagan; four great-grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews.
