Ronald "Ronnie" Winston Brown

SHREVEPORT, LA - Memorial services for a celebration of life for Ronald Winston "Ronnie" Brown, 66, will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. Officiating will be lifelong friend and retired Baptist Minister Cecil Marr. Ronnie was born on February 9, 1948 in Shreveport to Samuel Winston Brown and Beatrice Cooper Brown and passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 10, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents. Even though he never had brothers of his own, his buddies Donny Baughman, Terry Rice, Tommy Spinks and Gary Teer were as close as brothers to Ronnie and also preceded him in death. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 48 years, Barbara Ann Whalen Brown; two daughters, Robin Brown Smyth and husband, Eric Smyth, of Prairie Village, KS and Melissa Ann Brown of Arlington, TX; grandsons, Trevor Winston Kirkman and "Baby Smyth" due in February 2015; three nieces and one nephew; God-daughter, Rachel Michelle Howard and extended family. Ronnie went to Tyler Junior College on a Collegiate Baseball Scholarship and graduated from LA Tech with a BS in Marketing. Ronnie owned and operated Brown Brothers Appliance Inc. until his retirement in 2007. His greatest joy in life was his family. He was an adoring and loving husband to Ann. They met at age 14 and have been together ever since. Ronnie gave 100% of himself to everyone that knew him with no questions asked and his legacy will continue to live on through his family and friends. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. Honoring Ronnie as pallbearers will be the rest of his "brothers" Joe Brown, Dennis Broughton, Jimmy Buckner, Don Chandler, Doug Holland, Foster Mayes, Bobby Mottet and Robert P. "Bobby" Waddell and the "Woodlawn Boys". Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Humphries, Trevor Kirkman, Jim O'Brock and Eric Smyth. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made in Ronnie's honor to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692 or to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 N. Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA 22311.
