KEITHVILLE, LA- Celebration of life service honoring Ronald "Ron" Lee Turner of Keithville, LA will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. After a yearlong valiant fight with brain cancer, Ron went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, July 20, 2014. Officiating the service will be Dr. Chad Hardbarger, assisted by Rev. Harry Forester. Graveside service will follow at approx. 3:45 p.m. at Whitehall Cemetery (Leton community) outside of Haynesville, LA. The family will be receiving friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Southside, 2500 Southside Drive, on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 from 4:30 - 7:00 p.m.

Ron served the Lord faithfully and was a deacon of Emmanuel Baptist Church for many years. His genuine love and compassion for others was demonstrated by the life he lived. He enjoyed woodworking, painting cars, building/restoring furniture, and spending time at the "old farm place" near Leton, LA. After 30 years with General Motors, he became a home inspector. He loved spending time with family and especially took great pride in his grandson.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Walter R. Turner. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 37 years, Rose Thomas Turner, his children; son, Daniel Mark Turner and wife, Julie; daughter, Amy Elisabeth Turner, DVM; grandson, David Mark Turner; granddaughter, Eleanor Ruth Turner; mother, Joy Yvonne Powell Turner; brothers, Don Turner, Walt Turner; sister, Gay Turner Petersen; aunt, Sylvia Powell; and several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers; Ronnie Denny, Burt Grubbs, Ragan Fair, Gene Taylor, Mike Asher, Travis Sturdivant, Gerald Thomas, Ted Lewis. Honorary pallbearers include deacons of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

The family would like to extend a special thanks for all the prayers, love, and support throughout this journey, over the past 12 months.
