HOMER, LA: Funeral services were held for Rose Anne Kirk Louviere, 81, at the First Baptist Church in Homer on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Brian Thurman, officiating. Interment followed at the Homer Arlington cemetery. The family received friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 405 E. 5th St., Homer on Monday from 5-7 p.m.
Mrs. Louviere was born Oct. 30, 1934 in Homer to Lewis E. and Buel Jane Upchurch Kirk. She entered into rest Saturday, Jan. 23rd at Minden Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
Anne Kirk Louviere loved her faith and loved her family. She was so proud to be of the "Oilfield Gang", having grown up and raised a family of her own in the Homer Oilfield. Anne knew the meaning of hard work, having worked for years at Tatum Clinic, Deas Clinic, and retiring as Administrator of the Office of Family Services in Homer. She and her first husband, Luke Blackwelder, imparted that strong work ethic to their three sons. They insured that all three not only attended and graduated from college, but more importantly, that the boys worked and paid for those degrees.
Everyone knew Anne as a sweet, gentle spirit, but this saucy redhead had a quick, spirited, fiery determination whenever the situation dictated. Anne was very active in the Oilfield Baptist Church then the First Baptist Church of Homer, having served as teacher, piano player, choir member, and on numerous committees. Anne was an accomplished artist, she loved to sew and playing cards with her friends. In her later years she loved to just sit and relax on her back porch with her husband Hardy, sipping coffee and looking at beautiful Lake Claiborne.
Mrs. Louviere was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Luke Blackwelder, Jr. and Hardy Louviere; one brother, Lewis E. Kirk, Jr. and one sister, Mary Bess Lawrence.
She is survived by three sons, Stephen Blackwelder and wife, Suzy of Ruston, Michael Blackwelder and wife, Lynn of Homer and Patrick Blackwelder and wife, Suzanne of Summerfield; step-son, Paul Louviere and wife, Oana-Maria of Stowe, VT; nine grandchildren, Kirk Blackwelder and wife, Elizabeth, Laura Blackwelder Roberson and husband, Ryan, Amanda Blackwelder Dinsmor and husband, Ian, Kent Blackwelder and wife, Lindsay, Karli Blackwelder McLain and husband, Patrick, Ashton Blackwelder, Payton Blackwelder, Jessica Roberts and Julia Roberts; eight great-grandchildren, Victoria Blackwelder, Ava Roberson, Olivia Blackwelder, Drew Blackwelder, Tatum Blackwelder, Jack Dinsmor, Mason Pilger and Autumn Pilger.
Pallbearers were Kent Blackwelder, Kirk Blackwelder, Patrick McLain, Ryan Roberson, Ronald Day and Dwight Mitchell.
