Funeral services for Rose Mary Myers Matthews will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 2:00 PM. Services will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Logansport, Louisiana with burial to follow in Liberty Hill Memorial Gardens in San Augustine, Texas. Rose Mary was born on December 29, 1926 to Robert and Rae Baker in Freeport, Texas. Rose Mary met and married Ruben A. Myers at the young age of "16". Rubin and Rose Mary had three children; Robert A. Myers of Carencro, La., Mary Ollie Richard of Shelbyville, Texas and Alva L. Ellis-Babineaux of Lake Charles, La. During World War II, Rose Mary was one of the original "Rosie Riveters". She later obtained her degree in Business Administration and worked as an Office Manager in Lake Charles, La. and Center, Texas until her retirement. After she became a widow she met and married Bobby Matthews of Logansport, La., where she became the mother to Bobbie Gaye Darden of Bethany, La., Patricia Anderson of Coushatta, La., Tina Matthews of Shreveport, La. and Tammy Gray of Benton, La. Throughout her lifetime Rose Mary enjoyed farming, taking care of her cows and spending time with her grandchildren. It was a common sight to see her operating her tractor and gardening equipment.
