A Mass of Christian Burial for Roy Anthony Miciotto, 97, will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 12 noon at Christ the King Catholic Church in Bossier City with Father Charles Glorioso and Father Karl Daigle officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery on St. Vincent Ave. Visitation will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr. in Bossier City from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017.
Roy was born January 2, 1920 to Sam D. and Josephine Michel Miciotto and passed away March 22, 2017. Roy proudly served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific during WWII. He married his beautiful wife, Raye Goodwin Miciotto in Haynesville, LA in 1947. Roy worked for Edison Brothers Shoe Company for 38 years as their manager for Burts and Bakers Shoes in downtown Shreveport. Even after retiring, he never slowed down. He loved his family and his church. All of his family considered him the best husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather in the world.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Johnny and Sam Miciotto and sisters, Mary Gallo and Walla Miciotto. Roy is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Raye Goodwin Miciotto, and their two children, Marilyn Miciotto Johnston and Greg Miciotto and his wife, Lisa. "Papa" is also survived by his grandchildren, Jason Johnston and his wife, Shannon, Jeremy Johnston, Marissa Miciotto, and Mallori Miciotto. He was blessed with six great-grandchildren, Alyssa, JT, Caleb, Brady, Avery, and Brooklyn.
Honoring Roy as pallbearers will be, Louis Cascio, Ralph Lemons, Mike Mackey, Tony Papa, John Pou and Rick Upton.
The entire Miciotto family expresses their gratitude to the staff at the VA Hospital and their Palliative Care team for their kindness and compassion shown to Roy during this difficult time.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
