Roy Elias Boyd

Shreveport, LA - Funeral services for Roy E. Boyd will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Rose-Neath's Mansfield Chapel beginning at 2:00 p.m. with visitation from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Converse Cemetery. Roy was born in Converse, LA on July 27, 1922 to Lawrence and Nettie Raymond Boyd. He finished Converse High School in 1940 and then served six years in the Navy during WWII. After his college years at Northwestern State University, he became Postmaster in his home town retiring after thirty-two years of Federal service. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Letha Boyd Ford and brother-in-law, Walter Ford; two brothers, Henry Leon Boyd and wife Elaine Colvin Boyd and infant brother Lawrence Raymond Boyd; a step-son Jimmy McWilliams. Roy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marie Moore McWilliams Boyd, one son Cary L. Boyd, one step-daughter-in-law Saundra Chance McWilliams, one step-grandson Brandon McWilliams, and a special son Randy Brown, along with many very precious nieces, nephews, and cousins.
