SHREVEPORT, LA - Roy J. Boyter, 92, passed away on January 17, 2018. Services celebrating his life will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Rose-Neath Marshall St. Chapel. Officiating will be Bro. Chuck McInturf of Woodridge Baptist Church and assisting will be Pastor Steve Hill of Grace Family Worship Center. Burial will follow at Forest Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. prior to the service.
Roy was born on March 6, 1925 in Forest, Mississippi. He was a World War II veteran and served in the Army (29th Division- 115th Infantry June 6 Omaha Beach) from July 21, 1943 to October 28, 1945. He was a prisoner of war of the German government from June 10, 1944 to August 4, 1944. Roy was also a member of Woodridge Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Erma Jean Boyter; daughter, Pam Stephenson; grandson, Danny Acosta; parents, James and Essie Boyter; three brothers and three sisters.
Roy is survived by his daughter, Sue Acosta and husband Daniel; son-in-law, Shell Stephenson; grandchildren, Michelle Causey (Duke Scott), Chris Acosta (Laurie), Heather Hayter (Jay), Jonathan Acosta (Mary), Jenny Clark (Chris), and Chrissy Newman (Esthman); great-grandchildren, Robby Acosta, Andrew Acosta, Alex Acosta, Kyndall Acosta, Britton Acosta, Emily Causey, Ty Causey, Jack Hayter, Leighann Hayter, Cayden Clark, and Shelly Clark.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and great-grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Wayne Boyter, James Hill Boyter, and Joel Boyter.
