Oil City, LA - Funeral services celebrating the life of Rufus Alson Attaway, age 85 will be held at 11:00 am Friday, February 26, 2016 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 705 S. Spruce Street, Vivian, LA. Officiating will be Dr. David Farmer, assisted by Elder Jerry Wynne. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Oil City, LA. There will be a time of visitation on Thursday, February 24, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Attaway was born in Fouke, AR on September 6, 1930 to James and Naomi McGee Attaway and passed away on February 23, 2016 at his residence after an extended illness. He was an electrician, member of IBEW #20, Security Guard, US Navy veteran and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Mr. Attaway loved building things, tinkering, being outdoors, fishing, doing things with his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Attaway was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Naomi Attaway and brother, Clyde Bland. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Marilyn Attaway; children, Danna Doughty (Mark), Daniel Attaway (Elisa), Donald Attaway (Carol) and Douglas Attaway (Freida); sister, Helen McAnnallly (JC). Mr. Attaway is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
