A private graveside service for Russel Christopher Fulco, 86, will be held at a later date.
Russell was born on March 25, 1938 to Camille Joseph Fulco and Jewell Mae Shook in Shreveport, Louisiana and passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
He was known as “Sonny” to his close friends and family. He was a gentle man as well as a gentleman, he charmed his way into the hearts of all he knew.
His only sibling, Dorothy Keith, passed away last year. They were very close. He had no children of his own, but loved and spoiled his nieces, Susan and Cynthia Keith, and his nephew Chris Keith as if his own. They rarely missed their family Sunday lunch together, a tradition started by his father and home cooked by his mother. She wasn’t Italian, but could cook a great Sunday meal that always included delicious pasta. The tradition continues today.
Russell studied architecture at LSU in Baton Rouge and remained a Tiger fan for life. Continuing with his design and artistic abilities he joined the long-standing family printing business, Standard Printing, as a graphics artist.
Dedicated to his work he stayed with the business even after it was sold to new owners.
He expressed his love of art through his “larger than life” paintings that adorn the houses of his family. He would lose track of time as he immersed himself into each painting. He loved piling the paint on so thick that the texture and dimension would make them come to life.
He always thought of others instead of himself and wanted the best for everyone. He loved to make people happy and will be missed.
We would like to thank Garden Park Nursing Home for their care and compassion during the several years he resided there.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the charity or local animal rescue of their choice.
