Ruth Albertine Poche' Scott

Ruth Albertine Poche’ Scott, 95, of Shreveport, Louisiana entered into eternal rest on April 28, 2023 at her home in Shreveport. Albertine was born on October 12, 1927 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Albert and Edna Poche’.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, 2023 located at Graceway Fellowship Church-4761 W Bert Kouns Industrial Loop, Shreveport, LA 71118. Officiating the service will be Rev. Rick McDonald.

Albertine was preceded by her husband, Daniel W. Scott, Sr.; parents, Albert and Edna Poche’; sister, Dorothy Poche’ Johnson; and grandson, Paul Daniel Scott. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Scott; sons, Daniel Scott, Jr. and wife Sarah, and Albert Scott and wife Karen; granddaughters, Lauren Scott, Stephanie Harrison, April Schaller, and Anna Grappe; grandson, Phillip Scott; brother, Jack Poche’; seven great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Beginning at an early age, Albertine showed musical talent by playing the piano. She later played the viola in a youth orchestra and several other orchestras that led to the founding of the Shreveport Symphony. She was a 1944 graduate of Byrd High School. In 1948, she met and married the love of her life, Dan, to whom she was faithful for almost 70 years at the time of his death. She was faithful to raise her three children in ways of the Lord and later when she became “Granny” she was faithful to show her grandchildren and great-grandchildren God’s unconditional love. For 47 years, Albertine faithfully taught the “Beginners” Sunday school class at Life Tabernacle. Many of her former students, now grown with grandchildren of their own, tell how “Sister Albertine” had a lasting impact on their lives. She also faithfully served as church secretary for many years at Life Tabernacle. In 2006, she became a charter member of Graceway Fellowship Church where she faithfully attended for as long as she was able.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful ladies of Heart of Hospice, Home Instead, and Wings of Love for their care and compassion in making her final days as comfortable as possible.

Honoring Albertine as pallbearers will be Phillip Scott, Daniel Grappe, Bill Johnson, James Johnson, Alex Delfosse, and Earl Schaller.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Graceway Fellowship Church.
