Ruth Kathleen Bruce

Shreveport, La - Ruth Powell Bruce, 79, of Shreveport, LA passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2015 in Shreveport, LA. Born February 24, 1935, she resided in the small town of Florien, LA until she met her one love, Walter Bruce. She spent the rest of her days caring for her family and was a very devoted Catholic and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She spent many hours helping to run their family business, Bruce Treasure and spent countless hours beside her husband treasure hunting and selling metal detectors. On the weekends she could usually be found at trade shows showing the treasures they had found or helping her husband with sales or going over old maps with customers. She was an avid reader and in her spare time could usually be found with a novel beside her. She helped her husband write 3 books, owned Bruce Subdivision with him on Cross Lake and spent many summer vacations at the family beach house on Holly Beach with her husband, children and grandchildren. Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Kenneth and Keith Bruce, both of Shreveport, LA. One daughter, Gloria Miller and husband Charles, of Logansport, LA. Grandchildren, Christy Holmes and husband, C.D., Stephanie Miller, Eric Miller and wife Denyse, Jason Miller and Ashley Bruce. She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Walter Bruce, her parents, a brother and a sister. The funeral will be Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Shreveport, LA with Father Joseph Kalookalam officiating. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, February 13, 2015 at Rose-Neath Southside from 5-7 p.m. in Shreveport, LA. Pallbearers will be Charles Miller, C.D. Holmes, Eric Miller, Jason Miller, and Chance Holmes. She will be greatly missed here on earth but we rest assured that the Bruce's have found their treasure in heaven.
