SHREVEPORT, LA - A celebration of the life of Ruth Esther Palmer McInnis will be held Monday, December 22, 2014 at Graceway Fellowship Church, 6901 Buncombe Road, Shreveport, LA at 11:00 a.m. under the direction of Pastor Rick McDonald and Reverend Johnny Johnson. The family will receive friends and family at Graceway Fellowship on Sunday, December 21, 2014 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at Centuries Memorial, Shreveport, LA.
Mrs. McInnis was born October 6, 1924 in Shreveport, LA the oldest of ten children. She went to live eternally with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 17, 2014 after a brief illness. She was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ, a Charter Member of Life Tabernacle Church in Shreveport, and the office manager for Mexican Indian Training Center (Cordoba, Mexico) for over twenty years. She was affectionately known as "The Cookie Lady" for the innumerable batches of cookies she made for young and old alike. She was a 1941 graduate of C.E. Byrd High School.
Ruth Esther was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Lyle G and Madge Palmer; her husband of fifty-four years, R.L. McInnis; sisters, Judy Williams and Jeanne McCormic. Those left to cherish the memory of this remarkable lady include children, Ruthie Bryant and husband David, Randy McInnis and wife Donna, Danny McInnis and Gary McInnis; grandchildren, Lauren (Scott), Susan (Jim), Joanna (John), Jennifer (Mike), Tamara, Sara (Nick), Allison (Chris), April (Trent), and Danny; great-grandchildren, Caroline, Reid, Kamryn, Ian, Brooks, Claire, Jane, Amelia, John Randall, Zoe, and Alexander; as well as three sisters and four brothers, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Serving Mrs. McInnis as pallbearers will be Danny McInnis, Nick Vergis, Scott Wilson, Mike Rockwell, Christopher Fultz, and Kevin Sparks. Honorary pallbearers will be John Powell, Jim McNeer, Trent Daugherty, Kolton Sparks, and Ian Johnston.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests any memorial be made to Mexican Indian Training Center, P.O. Box 19422 Shreveport, LA 71149.
