SHREVEPORT, LA - Sally Baker Hudson, 51, of Shreveport died April 16, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born December 15, 1965, in Mansfield, LA, Sally's family has deep North Louisiana roots. After graduating from Central High School, Sally attended Louisiana State University of Shreveport and earned her B.S. in Medical Technology. For her entire 27-year career as a clinical laboratory scientist, Sally was a member of the Willis-Knighton Health System family. During her illness, that family supported Sally personally and provided her with the same level of excellent care that was her standard. Sally shared with family that "she never got tired of loving people." She lived a life of love, and her favorite way to show that love was with a hug.
Sally is survived by her mother, Barbara Burford Baker; daughter, Taylor Buffington Brassfield and husband Daniel; granddaughter, Elizabeth Claire Brassfield; son, Robert Mitchell Buffington and wife Arielle; sisters, Susan Baker Bilnoski and husband Kent, Jamie Fletcher Shirley and husband Ryan, Kayla Fletcher Dunagan and husband Kyle, and Debra Baker Rathbun and husband Gary; brothers, Michael Alan Baker and wife Jan, and Stephen Bryan Baker and wife Sandy; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding Sally in death were fathers, Ronald Wayne Fletcher and Michael Baker, and grandparents, Robert and Win Burford.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Gloster Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Ron McLellan and the Rev. Billy Crosby. Burial will follow at Trinity Cemetery in Gloster, LA.
Honoring Sally as pallbearers will be Al Atkins, Seth Bilnoski, Chad Burford, Jim Burford, Joshua Chance, Avery Hooker, David Simmons, and Christopher Spence.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Mike Boullion, Gary Wayne Brummett, Mark Conella, Brian Jackson, and Brett Murray.
