Sam Lane Mobley went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on October 19, 2017. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy and a family that will cherish his memory.
Mr. Mobley was born on May 5, 1931, in Ashland, Louisiana to parents, Osa Mobley and SL Mobley. Mr. Mobley lived his formative years in Elm Grove, Louisiana and was very proud to have been raised in the country. He met the love of his life, Shirley Woolley Mobley on a blind date. They eventually married and recently celebrated 66 years of marriage together.
Mr. Mobley was the personification of honesty and hard work. He worked primarily in the oil-field industry for over six decades and worked at least six days a week up until his retirement at 80 years of age. Mr. Mobley began his work career at Arkla Gas and then transitioned to Mobley Oil Company before forming his own business, Mobley Production Services.
Despite his busy career, Mr. Mobley was devoted to his family. He always found time to serve his church, help coach youth baseball and basketball and supported his children's hobbies and sports.
Mr. Mobley is survived by his wife, Shirley Woolley Mobley; three children, Gary Mobley of Shreveport, Mark Mobley, Sr. and his wife, Kimberly Mobley of Shreveport, and Samantha Mobley Barkley and her husband, Gregory Barkley of Shreveport; 9 grandchildren, Mark Mobley, Jr., Abbie Mobley Aubrey, Hannah Barkley, Mason Mobley, Jacob Barkley, Mallory Mobley, Emma Barkley, Isabella Mobley and Gage Mobley; and three great grandchildren, David Mobley, III, Rhodes Mobley and Eleanor Aubrey.
A graveside service will take place at 10:00 a.m., at Forest Park Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent Avenue, Shreveport, Louisiana, on Monday, October 23, 2017.
