He went to school at St. Mary's Catholic School, then on to Bossier High School, where he played in the band and enjoyed that very much. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII. Sam was a faithful member of the Catholic Religion and attended Christ the King Catholic Church. He was loyal to the Ford Company and traded vehicles every two to three years. This was because after in WWII, Ford was the first to call him saying they had a car for him, which made him a lifetime customer. He also enjoyed Big Band music, especially the Glenn Miller Orchestra, and the customers always heard this type of music playing in Peters Grocery. He is preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Melissa Rose Maggio.
