Samuel Daniel McGuire

Love is patient. Love is kind. And until his passing June 30, 2021, Samuel Daniel "Bo" McGuire embodied love. Whether he was answering to Bo, Daddy, Uncle Bobo, or PaPa, he never desired recognition for countless acts of loving service in the form of a home repair for a needy friend, a smoked brisket or pot of chili or gumbo for a sick neighbor, or even a special step for his youngest granddaughter. His easy-going demeanor attracted all pets, and he was never boastful or angered during his regular golfing rounds with friends (and they did not envy his scores). Bo was born in Simsboro, Louisiana, January 13, 1938, to Willie and Earl McGuire. He attended Simsboro High School and Louisiana Tech University and served his country in the United States Air Force for four years before marrying Dianne Baker of Choudrant, Louisiana. They moved to Minden, Louisiana, where he worked for 34 years for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, retiring as an engineering technician supervisor. Bo was a lifelong Methodist and a faithful member of First United Methodist Church where he served as an usher for 50 years in addition to numerous years of service on various church committees, Administrative Board, and Board of Trustees. Bo was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Earl McGuire; daughter, Amy Danielle McGuire; and sister, Edna Earl McGuire Mays. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dianne; son, Samuel Brad McGuire and wife Barbara; granddaughters Sadie McGuire, Morgan McGuire, and Hannah McGuire; sister Patsy McGuire Gullatt of Haughton; and special friend and caregiver Torie Banks as well as a number of nieces and nephews who will remember his legacy of protection, trust, hope, and perseverance. The service will be July 3, 2021, at First United Methodist Church of Minden with visitation from 10am-11am and the service at 11am. A private burial will follow. Pallbearers are Steve Gullatt, Patrick Gullatt, Randal Mays, Ragan Hoenke, Kevin McCann, and Stephen Banks. Memorials should be made to First Methodist Church of Minden with a notation of LA Methodist Foster Care Program. Rose-Neath Funeral Home 211 Murrell Street Minden, Louisiana 71055 (318) 377-3412
