Sandra Boddie Hoffman, a loving and beautiful soul is now in the loving arms of Jesus Christ at peace.
A Memorial Service for Sandra Boddie Hoffman, 84, will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel at First Presbyterian Church, 900 Jordan St., Shreveport, Louisiana. An inurnment will be held in the Memorial Garden of First Presbyterian. Officiating will be Reverend Alexandra Pappas.
Sandra was born on October 10, 1939 in Briceland, Louisiana to Ted Burton Boddie and Gwen Williams Boddie and passed away gently January 2, 2024 in Shreveport, Louisiana with her loving husband, John, by her side.
She graduated in 1957 from Bryd High School and attended Centenary College of Louisiana, where she earned her BBA degree in teaching. She taught one year at Jewella Elementary School. While at Centenary College, she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha and was chosen as Kappa Alpha Rose and Province Rose and she was elected as Senior Class Favorite. She was an active member of the Junior League of Shreveport where she volunteered for many projects. Sandra and John married in June of 1962 and later moved to Dallas, Texas where they became thrilled parents of Mary Elizabeth and John Preston III. After their years in Dallas, the couple returned to Shreveport raising their beautiful family. She was a longtime and dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church where she became a deacon and taught Sunday School. Sandra was a member of the Shreveport Country Club, The Demoiselle Club, Cotollion Club and State Line Fishing and Hunting Club. She and John were fortunate to spend many summer months in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. Her love for her home garden showed in its year-round vibrant and gentle beauty. She was delighted in traveling and would enjoy special trips with her longtime travel friends, Vicki and Peyton Campbell. She traveled to many special destinations such as Normandy Beach, France, Alaska, Europe, Hawaii, Central America and Panama Canal.
Sandra was a loving, modest, selfless soul with a gorgeous smile. She was a gentle mother and friend who always had a warm welcome for all.
Sandra is preceded in death by her parents, son, John P. Hoffman III; loving nephew, Brook Boddie; niece, Jennifer Lee Boddie and beloved sister-in-law, Patsy Hoffman Bond. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, John Hoffman; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Smith; granddaughter, Laura Elizabeth Smith; grandson, Christopher Michael Smith; godchildren, Emily McClure Acock and Elizabeth McClure Miller and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as honorary pallbearers for Sandra Hoffman will be Christopher Michael Smith, Lynn Geneux, John Smith Sale, Peyton L. Campbell, Eugene Richardson, Curt McClure, Cole Stephens, John M. Colvin and Dr. Warren West.
The family would like to give special thanks to the kind caregivers at the Chateau of Montclar Memory Care who always treated her with kindness and respect. Also, a special thank you to Willie Mae Jones, Vernoy Williams and other loving caregivers who always put her first. The tireless love and support of Harreyette and Jean Richardson over the many years of Sandra’s illness will always be remembered.
