On the evening of February 18, 2024, Sandy passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness. Sandy was being visited and comforted by friends and family members at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice at the time of her passing. She was 61 years old.
Sandy was born on November 22, 1962 in Shreveport, LA. She was the third and youngest daughter of Roy and Betty J. Lee.
Sandy was a member of Shreveport First Church of the Nazarene. She was active in the nursery, youth Sunday School, and Missions. She was also instrumental in helping start the church’s Blanket Ministry. She loved God and family and was known by many as “Mom” or “Nani”. She enjoyed crafts and making special gifts for loved ones. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren.
In John 13:34, Jesus says "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." Sandy lived a life of love and service to others. She fought many battles over the years but never lost her love and faith.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Betty J. Lee; her husband of 35 years, Louis Ray Ketchum, Jr.; and sister, Peggy McCain.
Sandy is survived by daughter, Candace Impson and husband, Jeff; son, Louis Ray Ketchum III; grandchildren, Victoria Impson and Dylan Impson; sister, Linda Giddens; and step-sister, Michelle Atkinson.
Honoring Sandy as pallbearers will be John Counts, Kyle Counts, Roy Giddens, Matt Hemingway, Steve Huber, and Donald Ray Schellinger. Ron St. Aubyn will serve as honorary pallbearer.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests any memorials in Sandy’s honor be designated to the Blanket Ministry of Shreveport First Church of the Nazarene (8429 Kingston Rd., Shreveport, LA 71108).
Sandy’s family would like to give special thanks to the staff at St. Joseph Hospice and to Donna Loftin for the special attention, care, friendship, love, and dignity shown to Sandy in her final months, weeks, and days.
