Sandra "Sandy" Kay Greig

Sandra “Sandy” Kay Herring Bryant Greig, 78, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 7, 2023 after a hard fought battle with dementia. Sandy was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on October 22, 1944 to Curtis and Helen “Tiny” Herring. She was a 1962 graduate of Fair Park High School. After graduation, she married Jack W. Bryant and was married for 42 years. After Jack’s death in 2005, she married Carl H. Greig, Sr., and they were married until his passing in May 2020.

Sandy worked her entire career in the Insurance Industry. She excelled with every new position she accepted. She was president of the Shreveport Association of Insurance Women for 1994-1995. She was an assistant vice president of Alexander and Alexander and was the manager of the Commercial Service Department. She retired from RSL in 2008 and began traveling, camping, and enjoying the small things in life. Sandy was a very talented artist and singer and loved making and giving handmade gifts she had made from her heart. She loved to sit around the table and play cards and Chicken Foot where there was laughter and love all around her.

Sandy is preceded in death by her parents, Curtis Herring and Helen Lee Law Herring; her first husband, Jack Bryant and her second husband, Carl Greig; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Connie Herring; and stepdaughter, Amy Greig Ivy.

She is survived by grandsons, Austin Tyler Bryant, McKaleb Lane Spencer; nephews, Ryan Herring (Cassana), Roger Bryant, Jr. (Tina); nieces, Brenda Bryant, Darlyne Methvin and Jahnienne Bryant Varwig (Terry). Also surviving her is her bonus family, stepson, Carl Greig, Jr. (Susan); granddaughter, Courtney Greig Hubbart (Justin); grandsons, Austin Greig (Kat) and Adam Greig (Madison); and three great-grandchildren, Maddie Bryant, Eleanor and Jace Hubbart. She is also survived by a very special aunt, Dell Trusty and a special friend, Ginny Stickell, as well as her fur babies, Tractor and Gumbo who gave her purpose and love as she traveled the “dementia” journey. Sandy’s sweetness and kindness will be missed by many.
