Sarah "Jane" Abney

Shreveport, LA - "I am the resurrection and the life; he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live." (John 11:25) Jane Anderson Abney, 91, the "Queen Bee" of an awesome family left her earthly body and transcended into heaven where she is face-to-face with her Savior, Jesus Christ. She died Tuesday, April 7, in her apartment at The Bloom in Bossier City, LA, where she was treated like a queen by the administrator, her first born grandchild, Laurie Manno. Jane's funeral will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 11, at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, LA 71118. Honoring Jane by officiating her service will be her grandson, Ben Pirtle. Jane was married for 69 years to her "prince-charming", Jack Abney. Surely no man and woman have ever loved each other more than Jack and Jane. Jack, too, treated his wife like a queen. The last two years without Jack have been especially hard for her. Now they are together again. Jane grew up in the wonderful Anderson family of Shreveport. Her parents were Reuel Lacy Anderson and Lucille Mullin Anderson. They pre-deceased her along with her beloved identical twin, Betty Anderson Boone, and her sister, Francille Anderson Haygood. She is survived by one brother, R. L. "Sonny" Anderson, Jr. (Linda) of Baton Rouge, LA. During World War II, Jack came home from his military assignment to get engaged to Jane. When he rang the doorbell of her house, Jane's twin sister Betty answered, and he scooped her into his arms, covering her face with kisses, all the while Betty was shouting, I'm Betty, not Jane!" Jack and Jane had three beloved daughters and is survived by them and their families: Betty Jane King (Harry), Carol Ann Pirtle (Robert), and Jeannette Tucker (Bobby). She considered her twin's sons, Sydney K. Boone of Houston, TX and David E. Boone of Dallas, TX, as her own sons. Her seven grandchildren are Laurie Manno (Mike), Allison Holzhausen (Mark), Bo Tucker, Sarah Tucker, Kathryn Kane (Rob), Mary Ellen Hart (Hunter), and Ben Pirtle (Callie). Jane's precious great-grandchildren are Alexis Matthews, Bo DeDeaux, Terrell DeDeaux, Barbara Manno, Ryan Holzhausen, Hanna Holzhausen, Clark Kane, Jacob Rodgers, Cade Hart, Gracie Hart, Copeland Pirtle, Watson Pirtle, Grisham Pirtle, and Callaway Pirtle. She is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends that loved her dearly. "Janey", the Queen Bee of our family will always be remembered for the joy she spread to others. She was the family clown, cook, nurse-maid, and gift-giver. There will never be another quite like this wonderful, unique woman. We like to think of her in heaven dancing "The Possum-foot Drag" with Jesus and her prince-charming, Jack.
