HOMER, LA: Funeral services were held for Mrs. Sarah A. Gathright, 89, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer, LA, on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at 2:00 P.M., with Brother Rodney Gray, officiating. Interment followed at Cox Cemetery near Homer. The family received friends at the funeral home from 1-2 P.M. Mrs. Gathright was born October 12, 1928 in Campworth, Shelby County near Center, TX, to Cora Lee Love and Walter William Fountain, Sr. Surrounded by her family, she entered into rest in her home on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at 4:50 P.M. in Homer, LA. Mrs. Gathright was a faithful member of the Mt. Paron Primitive Baptist Church of the Harris Community. She was a member of the Claiborne Home Demonstration Club and the Council on Aging. She spent countless hours taking care of others and visiting people in nursing homes. Mrs. Gathright was a fighter and a people person. She was very appreciative of everything that was done for her. Mrs. Gathright was a collector with very good taste. She loved fast paced music and dancing. She loved cows, the color green, honey buns, Dr. Pepper and driving fast! What Mrs. Gathright loved most, though, were her friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 58 years, Robert Doy Gathright; a sister, Mary Seville Golden; five brothers, Walter William Fountain, Jr., Rayford Matthew Fountain, Mannon Fountain, Thomas Shadrock Fountain, and William Richard Fountain. She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Hall and husband Tony and Betty Gathright, all of Homer; a son, Robert Gathright and wife LaWanda of Bossier City, LA; a sister, Dorothy May Hill of Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Brian Eikeseth of Benton, LA, Kari Eikeseth and husband Rosario Privitera of Houston, TX, Billy Jack Hall and wife Christy of Homer, and Amy LeAnn Hood of Homer; ten great-grandchildren, Nicholas Marshall Eikeseth, Emily Madison Eikeseth, Giuseppe Privitera, Victoria Privitera, Levi Matthew Hall, Helen Elizabeth Hall, Marion Alice Hall, Vivian Rose Hall, Gavin Michael Hood, and Abigail Reese Hood; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Brian Eikeseth, Billy Jack Hall, David Fountain, Colton Fountain, Caleb Fountain, and Ronald Day. In lieu of flowers honoring Mrs. Gathright, her family suggests making donations to Cox Cemetery, C/O Mary Hall, 427 West 4^th Street, Homer, LA, 71040.
