Sarah Emma Layton Holland, 86, and peacefully passed away at home suddenly on December 29, 2018. Sarah was born December 12, 1932 in Brantley, Alabama, and grew up in Montgomery before moving to Shreveport, Louisiana in 1951.
Sarah was a devoted and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She was a long time member of Broadmoor Baptist Church and the Gleaners Sunday School class. Sarah belonged to the Shreveport Symphony, the Petroleum Club, and Barksdale Air Force Base Officers Club.
She attended LSU-Shreveport and Centenary College. She became a Certified Paralegal and a Notary Public and acquired outstanding secretarial and computer skills. Sarah was very artistic and creative, especially in sewing, painting, and drawing. Well known as a superb seamstress, Sarah made countless special occasion pillows as well as bridesmaid dresses for her daughters.
Sarah is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Harold Thomas Holland; four children Pamela Katosic of Fort Myers, FL, Patty Phelps (Hank) of Conway, AR, Douglas Holland (Amy) of Shreveport, and Jennifer Schalk (Lee) of Springdale, AR, and eight grandchildren.
A celebratory service for Sarah Holland\'s life will be held at Broadmoor Baptist Church on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 10 a.m. Dr. Larry Williams will officiate. Visitation will start at 9 a.m. in the church parlor prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to your favorite charity.
