Sarah Jean Sams

Funeral services for Sarah Sams, 88, will be held on Monday, December 4, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until time of service. Burial will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Park, 601 US-80, Haughton, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Brother Jim Gstohl.

Sarah was born on July 18, 1935, in Rayville, Louisiana to William and Eula Coates and passed away in Monroe, Louisiana on Sunday, November 26, 2023.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and taking vacations together, shopping, and cooking large meals for all. She was a homemaker, an apartment manager and codriver to her husband, Evert, when he was delivering boats across the country. She was known for having her nails painted and her beautiful red hair permed. She loved all of us very dearly and we will always keep her in our hearts.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Evert Lee Sams; four sisters; three brothers; daughter, Sharon Key Lein and grandson, Chad Powell. Left to cherish her memory are her brother, William Coates; son, Dewayne Sams and life partner, Maggie Frantz; daughter, Brenda Powell and husband, Jerry; grandchildren, Chris Powell, Jesse Powell, Alisha Bilbrey and Joseph Bilbrey and eight -great-grandchildren.

Honoring Sarah as pallbearers will be Chris Powell, Jesse Powell, Jerry Powell, Joseph Bilbrey, Derry Harrison, and Kevin Hill. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Clayton Lindner and Dewayne Sams.
