HOMER, LA: Funeral services were held for Saundra Wasson Bailey, 68, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Homer on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Wayne Craig and Rev. William Colvin, officiating. Interment followed at the Homer Arlington Cemetery. The family received friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer on Saturday from 5-7 p.m.
Saundra was born November 10, 1945 in Ruston, LA to H.O. "Punkin" Wasson and Minnie Lee Fowler Wasson. She entered into rest Friday, March 7th following a lengthy illness. Saundra was a Charter member of Calvary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. She was a former dispatcher with the Claiborne Parish Sheriff's Office for 12 years and an avid reader.
Saundra was preceded in death by her husband, Sim Bailey, Sr.; one son, John Bailey; and her parents.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Kim Baker and husband, Stephen of Homer, Carolyn Withers and husband, Chris of Conway, AR and Christy Jackson and husband, Greg of Patmos, AR; 5 sons, David Bailey and wife, Kimberley of El Dorado, AR, Sim Bailey, Jr. and wife, Tracye of Magnolia, AR, Mike Lake and wife, Charlotte of Flower Mound, TX, J.D. Bailey and wife, Caree of Haynesville and Douglas Bailey of Conway, AR; 1 sister, Judy Foster of Greenwood, LA; 1 brother, Rev. Ben Wasson and wife, Lynnette of El Dorado, AR; 20 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Joey Bailey, Ronald Day, Randy Smith, Roger Smith, Christopher Lake and Zach Taylor.
Honorary pallbearers were the Claiborne Parish Sheriff's Deputies.
