HOMER, LA: A memorial service was held for Scott Atlee Ferguson, 55, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home of Homer, LA, on Saturday, May, 25 2019, at 3:00 P.M., with Rev. Danny Triplet, officiating. The family received friends at the funeral home from 1-3 P.M., prior to the service.
Scott was born July 8, 1963, in Homer, LA, to Dorothy Fielder Ferguson and John L. Ferguson, Jr. He entered into rest on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, in Homer, LA. Scott was a lifelong resident of Homer and graduated from Claiborne Academy in 1981. He will always be known as a compassionate man with a huge heart. Whether you had known him for five minutes or fifty years, he always made you feel like he was your lifelong friend. Scott was always quick to help anyone who needed anything. He had a story for every moment and it would always leave you laughing. He wrote many songs through the years, always working music into his life - from a song to encourage potty training for his niece to moving lyrics for friends who passed on. He loved his family dearly. Though his health had declined over the past few years, his zest for life never did. He was loved and nurtured by a special lady in his life, his girlfriend, Deedria Bryan, who never left his side. He influenced numerous lives with his talent and compassion. The world won't be the same without him.
He was preceded in death by his father, John L. Ferguson and brother, Randy Hanna.
He is survived by his daughter, Abby Ferguson, of Homer, LA; granddaughter, Mya Ferguson; mother, Dorothy Fielder Ferguson, of Homer, LA; sister, Kim Stewart and husband, Paul, of Troy, MO; brother, Kerry Hanna and wife Sandy, of Phoenixville, PA; five nieces, Amy Stewart, Brittany Stewart, Vicki Tate, Lori Hamilton, and Kassi Hanna; two grandnephews, Austin and Ayden Hamilton; and girlfriend, Deedria Bryan.
In lieu of flowers honoring Scott, his family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
