Seline was born on June 26, 1936, in Hot Springs, Arkansas to Senolia (Delphin) and George Balthazar and passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, in Shreveport.
Seline was married for 62 years to the love of her life, Mack James Metoyer. She retired as a Teacher’s Aid with the Caddo Parish School System. She enjoyed antiquing and window shopping, took an interest in Native American Culture and collected various miniature items. She loved Louisiana, Texas, and French Creole History, baking from scratch and always kept up the family’s heritage tradition by her dishes that she would cook such as gumbo and meat pies. She enjoyed time with her family, especially her grandson, and pampering her “knock-out” rose bush. Seline was the rock of the family. Although she came off as shy, she was a very strong- willed woman.
Seline is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mack James Metoyer; brother, George Balthazar and son-in-law, Chris T. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Simone Williams and Margot Metoyer; son, Claude Metoyer and wife, Sherri; and grandson, Jean-Claude Pierre Metoyer; sisters, Leocadia McClean, Emma Lee Balthazar, Bridget Mayberry; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Honoring Seline as pallbearers will be Claude Metoyer, Jean-Claude Metoyer, Steve Moran, and Chris Moran. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be her nephews, Oliver McClean and Don Mayberry.
