Funeral services for Mr. Shelby Carl Thomas, 82, will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Open Range Fellowship Cowboy Church in Greenwood, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery in Martin, Louisiana. A visitation will be held Friday, February 25, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church. Officiating the service will be his grandson, Shelby Thomas ("Bubba").
Shelby was born on September 20, 1939 to Shelby Sullivan Thomas and Clevie Scott Adkins in Martin, Louisiana and passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022 in Shreveport.
Shelby worked in outside sales at Custom Bilt Cabinet and Supply for 50+ years. He loved to hunt, dance, travel, watch football, and spend time with family and friends. Shelby was a hardworking man with a good heart that could chastise you and then turn around and give you a hug. He was a thoughtful man who was loved by everyone that was blessed to know him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Bobbie Wood and husband, Bill; Jeanette Jones and husband, Scotty; brother-in-law, Johnny Tuminello; sons: Carl Thomas and David Breck Thomas; and granddaughter, April Thomas Fulghum. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Sue Thomas; daughter, Kelly Taylor Selk; son, Jon Ross Thomas; stepchildren: Greg Sepulvado and wife, Lori; Vicki Roy and husband, Rob; Rodney Sepulvado and wife, Kristy; daughter-in-law, Tonji Thomas; sisters: Louise Tuminello; Gracie Bertsch and husband, Rudy; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.
Honoring Shelby as pallbearers will be Foster Taylor, Tanner Selk, Chad Sepulvado, Dylan Sepulvado, James Roy, and Robert Roy. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Hayden Fulghum, Roan Fulghum, Tyler Sepulvado, and Gage Berry.
The family would like to express special thanks to the 2nd floor nurses at Willis-Knighton South for the phenomenal care given to Shelby.
The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cemetery Fund at Liberty Baptist Church in Martin, Louisiana.
