A “Celebration of Life” Service for Shelton Maurice Wiggins, 85, will be held on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Broadmoor Baptist Church, 4110 Youree Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Tom Harrison.
Shelton was born on April 15, 1938 in Bivins, Texas to Howard Joseph and Inice Eileene Shelton Wiggins and passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023.
He was a resident of Shreveport. He attended Tyler Junior College for two years before marrying the love of his life, Sandra Wiggins, on July 29, 1967. He worked for TG&Y and Saia Motor Freight as a long-haul driver. Upon retirement, he had driven over 3 million miles. He loved to fish, hunt, and read the Bible. His passion was building and remodeling houses. He spent most of his retirement being a handyman for whoever needed help. He was a caring person and loved giving his time and finances to those less fortunate. He brought a smile when he entered a room and made sure you knew about Jesus and his love for you.
Shelton is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Eileene Wiggins; sister, Gloria Nichols; brother, HJ Wiggins; and daughter-in-law, Patricia Wiggins. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Sandra Wiggins; son, Howard Blake Wiggins; daughter, Laura Paige Gloor and husband, Jeff Gloor; grandchildren, Rebecca Frazier and husband, Louis Frazier, Emily Wiggins, Anna Wiggins, Grace Wiggins, Sydney Kennedy and husband, Riley Kennedy, Carter Gloor; and great-grandchild, Millicent Kennedy.
The family suggests memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Shreveport/Bossier Rescue Million.
