SHREVEPORT, LA - Sheron St. Andria Vercher, 68, was born in the small town of Cloutierville, LA. It was there that she met and grew up with her husband of fifty years, Harry. They moved to Shreveport, LA in 1964 and have remained ever since, accumulating many lifelong friends along the way. Together they had one son, Darrel, whom they loved dearly and did anything and everything for. She spent her life as a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her boys in their home on Cross Lake.
Sheron was the kind of woman who always wanted to make sure everyone was taken care of, especially her loved ones. She was the true definition of selfless, always putting everyone else\'s needs above her own. She was known for many things, but her scrumptious Cajun cooking will be something that her family and friends will miss tremendously (especially her famous homemade meat pies and shrimp gumbo). Anytime you entered the doors of her home, you could smell something cooking or baking, and you better believe that she was going to ask you to sit down and stay awhile, followed by her famous question, \"You hungry?\" She also managed to keep all the cats and wild animals in the area very well fed, too. Anyone or anything that came around would leave her home with a full belly and a happy heart. She loved being outdoors, gardening or catching white perch on the lake. She spent her time indoors sewing, cooking, and reading her romance novels. She also spent many of her weekends going to local estate sales with her cousin, Vera. Sheron had an innate ability to find beauty in the simplest things, and always felt that she had everything she needed in life.
Among all of her interests and talents, her favorite thing to do was spoil those special to her. There is a quote that reads, \"Only those who have learned the power of sincere and selfless contribution, experience life\'s deepest joy: true fulfillment.\" Sheron Ann lived a truly fulfilling life, and was a real hero in the eyes of her family. Her family and her cats may get a bit skinnier now that she is gone, but their hearts will be heavier than ever. Her absence will affect everyone who came into contact with her, more deeply than she could ever have imagined.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Galbert and Myrtle St. Andria. She is survived by her husband, Harry Vercher; son, Darrel Vercher; brother, John St. Andria (Nita); grandchildren, Kristen Vercher and Heather Tripp; great-grandchildren, Landen and Hunter along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Vera Bamberg, Kimberly Venable, and daughter Devin Cruse for their great love and support during these difficult times.

Interment will be 1:00 p.m. at NW LA Veterans Cemetery, Keithville, LA with Pastor Kris Chenier officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the funeral home.
