Sherry Lynn Poland, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, at the age of seventy-six in Minden, Louisiana. Born on September 14, 1948, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, Sherry was the eldest daughter of the late Alpheus and Delda Poland.
Sherry spent her early years in Minnesota before the family moved to Louisiana, where she spent most of her life. Known for her unwavering support for family members and those around her, she was a constant source of strength and encouragement to her family and friends. Sherry's nurturing spirit extended far beyond her immediate family, as she became a second mother to many, offering guidance, compassion, and unconditional love to all who needed her.
Sherry was preceded in death by her father, Alpheus Poland; mother, Delda Poland; brother, Jeffrey Poland; and grandchildren, Joseph Shuler and Canyon Page.
Sherry is survived by her cherished sisters, Patricia Poland Gray, Deborah Poland Corley, and Rebecca Poland Evans, with whom she shared a lifetime of treasured memories. She leaves behind her beloved children, Jesse Braswell, Paul Braswell, and Cheryl Braswell, who she loved endlessly. Sherry was a proud and loving grandmother to John Paul Braswell and his wife, Haley, and Sarah Franklin Kinman and her husband, Tyler, always their biggest supporter and source of encouragement. Her great-grandchildren, Reese Braswell, Hank Braswell, Macie Kinman, and Wyatt Kinman, were fortunate to experience her unconditional love and joyful presence. Beyond her immediate family, Sherry's love extended the same as with any other family member to her nieces, nephews, and their families, who were all deeply touched by her.
Sherry's legacy is one of kindness, resilience, and an open heart to anyone she took into her life. Her absence will be deeply felt, but the memories she created and the love she shared will continue to remain with those who knew her.
A service to celebrate Sherry's life will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Bistineau Cemetery in Heflin, Louisiana with Rev. Michael Gray officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 26, 2024, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Rose Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana
May her memory be everlasting.
