Shirley Ann Carter

Arcadia - Funeral services will be held for Shirley Carter, 78, at Rose-Neath Funeral home in Arcadia on February 10, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Wayne Howington and Rev. Dorothy Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Lebanon cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Shirley was born July 8, 1937 in Washington, D.C. to Russell and Bessie Stainback. She entered into rest on Friday, February 5, 2016 in Minden following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Shirley was the love of her husband Wayne's life for 59 years. She was the devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother of their five children, Melody, Denise, Darryl, Melinda and Melissa, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Russell and Bessie Stainback. The family of Shirley Carter wish to thank their many friends for the numerous acts of love, prayer and kindness shown them in their hour of bereavement. May God bless each of you. The family also wishes to thank town and Country Nursing Home in Minden, nursing director Kim Rigdon and her staff and hospice. Pallbearers will be Darryl Carter, Jennings Woodard, Michael Erlund, Rickey Kilburn, Jerry Rhodes, Billy Rhodes, Phillip Volentine, John Mark Parnell, Sam Smiddy and Johnnie Fields. Memorials may be made to Mt. Lebanon Cemetery Association, through Gibsland Bank main branch in Gibsland.
