Shirley Lucille Ray

SHREVEPORT, LA - On Sunday, October 11, 2015 Shirley Lucille Johnson Ray, 80, passed away from this life to meet the Lord. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, LA. Shirley was born on August 14, 1935 in Oakdale, LA to Milton Thomas Johnson and Nellie Mertie Davis. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Shirley loved gardening, going to Branson, MO and visiting the caves in Arkansas. One of her greatest joys was playing with her grandchildren. Shirley always opened her door to everyone and she will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a dedicated and longtime member of St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Albert Thomas Ray; daughters Carol Lucille, Brenda Jeanne, Janet Lynn and son, Gary Paul. She is survived by her husband, Alonzo James Ray; sons, Albert Wayne Ray, David Lane Ray; daughter, Rhonda Gail Spaniel; grandchildren, Kristopher, Jonathan, JaLynn, Robert, Daniel, David, Wesley, Cody, Chrissy, and Jennifer; numerous great-grandchildren; brothers, Leroy Johnson and Tommy Johnson; sisters, Judy and Hazel, along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. The family would like to say a special thanks to all the staff at The Bradford Guest Care and the hospice staff for all the care they gave to help make Shirley's life more comfortable.
