BENTON, LA- Shirley Faye Cryer Seals passed away January 20, 2015. Her services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2015 at Rose-Neath's Bossier Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Billy Pierce. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Shreveport, LA. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City, LA.
Shirley Faye Cryer was born to Wiley Powell Cryer and Seabelle Covey Cryer on October 18, 1934 in Bradley AR. She grew up there, graduating from Bradley High School in 1952. She attended Southern Arkansas University from 1952-1954, including summer semesters. She was employed by United Gas until she married. She went on to work for private physicians, Albert L. Stephens, Jr., M.D., Peter B. Boggs, M.D., Willard F. Washburne, M.D., retiring from the Asthma Allergy Clinic, with Dr. Peter Boggs after 35 plus years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her dear and precious first-born, Dennis, her brother, Wade, her dear twin brothers, David and Dudley and nephew, Ray Southerland. She is survived by her beloved husband, Jim, two wonderful and remarkable sons, James and Ronnie, sisters-in-law, Carolyn Cryer, Gay Lynn Seals and Georgia Southerland, loving nieces, Cherie Lynn, Tena and Monica and one nephew, Sean. Shirley also enjoyed wonderful lifelong and special college friends. They were so very dear to her and she looks forward to the day when they are all reunited again. She was preceded in death by three very special friends that must be mentioned, Thomasene Jester Cook, Ione Sharp Jester and Myra Owens Cook.
"My children were the most important part of my life. I also had a partner in life, my dear husband Jim, that loved life as much as I did and with him by my side, we have enjoyed our busy and full lives together, with our children, families and some very special friends.
Honoring Shirley as pallbearers will be Travis Gore, Preston Young, Earnest Haynes, C.L. Madden, Mike Grigsby and Jeff Clark. Honorary Pallbearers include the "Dear Class of 1952" Bradley High School.
She treasured her friends and strived to be the BEST friend she could to those she knew. She loved life and tried to live it to the fullest. She knew God through Jesus Christ, her personal Savior and was a member of Cypress Baptist Church. She was a proud member and past President of the Ark-La-Tex Chapter of Bereaved Parents organization in the 1980's, and member of the American Association of Medical Assistants.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses, techs and staff of Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home.
