Shirley Nell Brumble Stuart, 89 of Greenwood, Louisiana went home to be with the Lord, February 12, 2025. She was born on February 13, 1935, in Bethany, Louisiana to George Klebe Brumble and Muriel Joy Hatley Brumble.
After graduation from Hallsville High School, she moved to Shreveport, Louisiana to attend Business School and started working at Arkla Gas. She met the love of her life, John Everette Stuart in 1955. She and her husband John made Shreveport their home. She was a wonderful housewife and Mother. Shirley was always involved and supported her children in their many school activities. Later in life she joined the workforce again and was a substitute teacher at Friendship Academy and also worked at Libbey Glass.
After her first grandchild was born, she was affectionally known as “Memi”! Shirley loved both of her church families, Willow Point and Summer Grove. Her greatest joy came from serving with the Youth and College Ministries and singing in the choir. She will always be remembered as a “Prayer Warrior” to so many.
She adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nothing made her happier than when her family was together. She often encouraged us with God’s Word. Her legacy will live on through her family and the lives she touched.
She is survived by her daughter, Joy Lynn Duke (Kelley); son, John Mark Stuart (Debbie); grandchildren, Jarrad Stuart, Haley Taylor (Chris), Stuart Duke (Ramsi), and Connor Duke (Cheyenne); great-grandchildren, Clark, Luke, Hatley, Samantha, Landry, Gunner, Malik and baby Raelynn who is on the way; her sister, Jan B. Cook; brothers, G.K. Brumble (Carolyn), Klebe Brumble (Marlene); and a host of nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Kelbe Brumble and dearest mother, Muriel Joy Hatley Brumble; her husband of 43 years, John Everette Stuart; brothers, Estin Brumble and Hatley Brumble; sisters, Lynda Niblett, infant sister, Carol; and great-granddaughter, Abigail Jean Taylor.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025, located at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southland Park Drive in Shreveport, Louisiana.
A Celebration of Life Service honoring Shirley will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 16, 2025, in the Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. Burial will be held in Hallsville, Texas. Officiating the service will be Bro. Bill Saxby and Bro. Kenny Joyner.

The family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff of Willis-Knighton Medical Center 2-North and Willis-Knighton Home Health (Lodie, LaToya and Amy) for the care, love and support provided to our Mom and our family.
The family suggests memorials may be made to Summer Grove Baptist Church.
