SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for Stanley Anthony Fontana, 81, will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 1, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Officiating will be Rev. John Harp. Committal service will be held at NWLA Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. with a procession leaving from Rose-Neath Southside Chapel at 1:30 p.m.
Stan was born on February 15, 1934 in Shreveport, LA to Mr. Samuel G. Fontana and Mrs. Lena L. Lewis Fontana and passed away on January 28, 2016. After graduating from Fair Park High School in 1952, Stan joined the United States Army and proudly served his country. He met and married the love of his life, Bettye Idom and together raised four children. Stan had many interests and hobbies, some of which include fishing and flying airplanes, but most of all he loved his wife Bettye.
Preceding Stan in death were his parents, and sisters, Esther Liberto and Antionette Hess. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 60 years, Bettye Idom Fontana; sons, Steven Fontana and wife, Donna, and Gary Fontana and wife, Amber; daughters, Joy Morgan and husband, Chuck, and Pat Fontana; grandchildren, Ashley Jett, Joey Davis, Kayne O'Neal, Steven Fontana, Jr., Annalese Fontana, Shawn Smith, Nicole Caples, and Brittney Angel; brother, D.J. Fontana and wife, Karen, along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Honoring Stan as pallbearers will be Joey Davis, Lane Jett, Steven Fontana, Jr., Rodney Milliken, and Horace Milliken. Honorary pallbearer will be Annalese Fontana.
The family would like to say a very special thanks to Phyllis Liberto, Rodney Milliken, the caring staff of Montclair Assisted Living and Dr. David Abdehou for all the love, care and support they gave to our father.
