Shreveport, LA - Stephen Joseph Bailey, age 70, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2015 after a brief illness. He was surrounded by family members. Steve was born on March 16, 1945, in Vicksburg, Mississippi. His parents, O.H. & Charlotte Bailey, preceded him in death. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 34 years Janis Bailey, along with son, Stephen Bailey and wife April, daughter, Kelli Boelter and husband Rich, daughter Heather Adcock and husband Scott, daughter Melanie Feather and husband Tom, son Steve McDowell and wife Carrie, daughter Denay Mason and husband Brent. Steve could not have been prouder of his children, as well as his 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was happiest when he was grilling for the entire family at their home in Stonewall. He loved hunting, canoeing, golfing, and spending time doing any other outdoor activity with his family. Steve spent his earlier years as a building contractor and in recent years worked as Chief Estimator at Action Garage Doors. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 26, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath South with funeral service on Monday, April 27, at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church. Honoring Steve as pallbearers will be his grandsons: Stephen M. Bailey, Jacob Bailey, Dustin Crowell, Craig McDowell, Kendall McDowell and Cody Mason. Officiating will be Rev. Morgan McIntyre, assisted by Rev. James Greer. Interment immediately following. The family would like to thank Dr. Joshua Jordan and nurses Annalies Jonker and Cherie Rayner at LSU-MICU for their kindness and compassion to Steve and his family.
