Steve Henry Mitchell
Steve Henry Mitchell, 61, was born April 4, 1956 in Shreveport, LA to Steve and Mildred Mitchell and left this earth for his eternal home in heaven on July 10, 2017. Steve was a lifelong resident of Shreveport, he attended Midway Junior High and Fair Park High School. After graduation, he went to work for the City of Shreveport in the Parking Department, which he oversaw and retired from after 28 years. Following retirement he went back to work for DDA, creating and leading Shreveport Parking Services, followed by SMG, running the parking garage for the Shreveport Convention Center until 2012. Steve loved to fish, a good card game with family and friends, and entertaining us all with his stories and jokes.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Mildred Mitchell, and father in-law, Charles Herring. Left to cherish his memories are his middle school sweetheart and loving wife of 38 years, Kathy Herring Mitchell; children, Jennifer Christy and husband Landon, Stephanie Haynes and husband Russell, Chad Mitchell and wife Elizabeth; grand-children, Leigha Grace Christy, Layton Charles Christy, and Connor Stephen-Dale Haynes; sisters, Barbra Mitchell Burrow and husband Mike, Sharon Christopher; mother in-law, Corine Herring, and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Storey, John Blades, Ronnie Herring, Scott Burrow, Rodney Swann, and Charlie Burrow. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chuck Williamson and Mitchell Rinaudo.
The family will receive friends and family for visitation from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017 at First Baptist Church Keithville, followed by a service celebrating Steve's life at 2:45 p.m. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
