A visitation will be held at North Highland United Methodist Church from 11:00 until time of service. Officiating the service will be Reverend Joe Donakey and Reverend Steve Caraway.

Steven was born in Munford, Tennessee on April 4, 1968. Those big brown eyes went straight to our hearts and we knew many happy years were ahead for us.  His middle name Earl was in honor of a dear friend of the family, Monsignor Earl Provenza.

Through the years, his love of nature grew from turtles and frogs as a child, to all plants and trees, especially Japanese Maples & Iris. He cared about his neighbors and friends and would help a stranger any time.

Steven was a graduate of Northwood High School where he played trumpet in the band. He attended Northwestern State University and Stephen F. Austin University. His love and knowledge of Japanese Maple trees helped him develop a lifetime friendship with one of his professors. His love of music inspired him to play the keyboard, where he created his own beautiful compositions.

He was a member of North Highland United Methodist Church, where he proclaimed his acceptance of Jesus as his Savior.

Steven is preceded in death by his dad, Frank Burton, his precious younger brother, Patrick Burton, his paternal grandparents, Granville and Lillian Burton, his maternal grandparents, Eldon & Ruby Lee, his Uncle Troy Festervand, Aunt Alda Joan & Uncle Frank McDaniels, and cousin Dianne McDaniels.

He is survived by his mother, Martha Burton; his sister, Jennifer and husband, Chris and their children, Madelise, Emersyn and Baylor Holloway; aunt, Carolyn Festervand; cousins, Amy, James, and John Festervand and their families, and other extended family. He was loved by all and he will be greatly missed by many friends and family.

Honoring Steven as pallbearers will be Chris Holloway, John Holloway, Jason McCalman, Jason Hogg, James Festervand and John Festervand.
