Celebrations of Life services for Stuart Wiley Heard, 61, were held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 8, 2014, in the Rose-Neath Mansfield Chapel with Brother McKee Williams and Brother Tommy McMellon officiating. Interment followed on the grounds of Grand Cane Cemetery, Grand Cane, LA under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Mansfield, LA.
The family welcomed guests for visitation Monday, July 7, 2014, during the hours of 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Rose-Neath Mansfield Chapel.
Mr. Heard was born May 8, 1953 in Mansfield, LA, to the late Wiley Howard and Sarah Storey Provost Heard and was called to his Heavenly home July 4, 2014 in Mansfield, LA. His family moved to the Grand Cane community in the 1860's becoming well established in the farming, timber and cattle industries. Mr. Heard continued the family heritage and he worked for 25 years as a Deputy Clerk with the Clerk of Courts office in DeSoto Parish. He learned to play the piano when he was 5. Mr. Heard was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Mansfield, LA where he played the organ and directed the choir. He was involved with LA Polled Hereford Association and was very active in the 4-H DeSoto Live Stock Club. Mr. Heard was very competitive when it came to his cattle, he enjoyed taking his girls to show cattle not only locally but state and nationally. He instilled values such as competitiveness and success into his three beloved daughters that will lead them through life. Mr. Heard will be remembered by those who loved him as loving all things cattle.
Mr. Heard was preceded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish the beautiful memories of Stuart will be his wife, Martha Lynn Ware Heard; three daughters: Sarah Lyndsey Heard, Megan Storey Heard McMurphy and husband Cody and Courtney Stuart Heard; two grandchildren, Avery Grace McMurphy and Reece Ann McMurphy; four special cousins: Melody Cawthorn Jones and husband Steve, Amy Garsee and husband Jeff, Taylor Garsee and Joseph Garsee and wife Alexis along with many extended family members and numerous wonderful friends.
