Susan was born in Keithville, Louisiana, where she lived the majority of her life surrounded by both friends and family. She was relentless in her pursuit of education, which she further instilled in her children and those around her. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northwestern State University, a Master of Science in Nursing from University of Arkansas Health Sciences Center, a Master of Business Administration from Centenary College of Louisiana and her Juris Doctor from LSU Law School. She practiced law for six years locally with the firm of Klotz, Simmons, and Reeks. She extended her love of learning by serving as a Nursing Instructor for Northwestern State University.
Susan was employed at LSU Health for a total of thirty years of dedicated service. During her time, she served many different roles, working as an RN in the Medical and Coronary Intensive Care Units, a Nurse Manager in the ICU, an Assistant Hospital Administrator, and Compliance Officer. Most recently, she served as the Senior In-House Legal Counsel for the last seven and a half years.
Susan was known for her immeasurable work ethic, heart of gold, and quick humor. She was caring and generous, and always placed the needs of others before her own. Her strength and resilience through any and all of life's challenges was unparalleled. She will be remembered as the absolute fiercest and loving sister, wife, mother, and friend, and as such, there are no words that can covey how greatly she will be missed.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents Pugh and Charlyne Armstrong, whom she loved dearly and missed daily.
