Sybil Alverne Green, born July 25, 1927, passed away to heaven on September 29, 2017 from complications of pneumonia, and Alzheimer's. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Ardis Green of Arcadia, La; son Wayne and wife Laurie of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; Gary and wife Susan of Ruston, La.; granddaughter Lisa Crews and husband Paul and family of Haughton, La. and Houston, TX.; sister Janet Scales of Boerne, TX.; 3 great granddaughters and 1 great-great granddaughter, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ardis and Sybil started their married life after WWII and lived in Louisiana, Tennessee, and eventually moved to East Texas. Later, Sybil worked alongside her husband at the Dairy Freeze restaurant in Stamps, Arkansas and the Western Auto store in Arcadia, La. for many years. In between those she worked as a bookkeeper for Conger's Insurance in Arcadia. However, to her immediate family, her best work was as wife and mother.
For several years, Ardis and Sybil were the youth counselors for First United Methodist Church in Arcadia and went on memorable youth trips during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Sybil loved vacations and along with Ardis, made trips to London, New Zealand, Central Europe, Australia, and all over the USA.
She loved to play games and go to or host family gatherings. Born to Obie Rhee and John Ed Johnson near Athens, La. she remained, in many ways, a small town girl all her life. She loved Jesus in her quiet and unassuming way.
The family expresses its appreciation to Sybil's church family, Arcadia Council on Aging, Allegiance, and the third floor staff of the Northern Louisiana Regional Hospital, and other friends who have showed their love and care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the First United Methodist Church of Arcadia.
