Sylvia A Monk

WASKOM, TX: Funeral services were held for Mrs. Sylvia Ann Cooper Monk, 67, in the Chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer, LA on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Travis Gulley officiating. Interment followed in the Homer Arlington Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Thursday from 11-1 p.m. Mrs. Monk was born December 11, 1947 in New Roads, LA to Clarence William and Doris Teresa Gremillion Cooper. She entered into rest on Monday, November 2, 2015 in Shreveport, LA. Mrs. Monk was a homemaker and a member of the United Pentecostal Church of Waskom, TX. Mrs. Monk was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Lester Cooper; a nephew, Michael Cooper; and a niece, Renea Cooper. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, John Monk of Waskom, TX; two sons, John Monk, Jr. and wife Dawn and Jesse Eugene Monk all of Waskom, TX; two sisters, Brenda Teresa Cooper of Amarillo, TX and Stelcie Schwegler of Buffalo, NY; two brothers, Darryl Cooper and wife Barbara of Leesburg, TX and Clarence Cooper, Jr. and wife Debra of Fritch, TX; two grandsons, Chance Joseph Monk and Jason Wayne Stars; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
