SHREVEPORT, LA - Terry "Teddy" Eugene Dempsey, Aka, "Sir Terrence Farnsworth Von Dempsman Esquire the 3rd" passed on July 20, 2015 and has gone home to the open arms of our Heavenly Father and The Savior Jesus Christ.
Terry was born May 25, 1954 in Shreveport, LA and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
At 17 Terry joined the U.S. Navy and served on the air craft carrier, The U.S.S. Lexington. He began a truck driving career working in the oil field. He drove bobtails, dump trailers and tanker trailers hauling everything between soda pop, rocks and diesel fuel. He finally found his home with Love's Travel Stops, Gemini Motor Transport. He loved driving the big trucks. His hobbies included hunting, camping, fishing, golfing and spending time with his family. He loved serving in his church. His many callings in the church included teaching in Sunday School, Primary and the Young Men's Program. He loved serving the Lord and his church family.
Teddy was preceded in death by his father, James C. Dempsey and his grandparents. Those left to cherish his sense of humor, stubbornness, and undying love for his family include his wife and sweetheart for over 31 years, Betty; daughter, Sandra and her husband, Ryan; sons, Tyler and his wife, Allison, and Jacob "Jake" Dempsey; mother, Ona Lee and her husband, Richard; brother Denny "Dingle" and his wife, Pam; sister, Vickie Rene and her husband, Ronnie; step-brother Glenn; mother-in-law, Louise "Granny"; grandsons, Wesley and Dustin and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2015 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Brownlee Chapel, 310 Wellington Drive, Bossier City, LA. Officiating will be Bishop Jeff Doan. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, LA.
