It is with great sorrow that the Shaw and Parker families announce the passing of Therese Suzette Shaw. She passed away December 5, 2024 at the age of 71 from a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. There was no doubt that she was immediately ushered into heaven where Jesus met her with open arms and said, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” Matthew 23:25
Suzette was born in Houston, Texas on April 27, 1953 to Cecil and Shirley Parker. She was the baby of the family with 2 older brothers. Both brothers constantly delighted in picking on and teasing their baby sister. She pretended to be upset, but secretly, she was delighted by all the doting and attention that was bestowed upon her by her 2 older brothers. This didn’t stop even when they all left home. It was their way of reminding her that they loved her and would always be there for her!
The family moved to West Texas after living in Houston for a while after her birth. She called Odessa, Texas, where she grew up, her home. She attended Bowie Junior High and Odessa High School, graduating in 1971. After graduation, she went to Odessa College where she studied business. Soon afterwards, she moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, and began working at Louisiana Bank and Trust. She continued to work in the banking business at other banks until her retirement.
She married the love of her life, Patrick “Rick” Shaw in July, 2001. He was truly her soulmate and best friend. He always lovingly referred to her as his “Parker”. They enjoyed 18 ½ years of marriage while residing in Frierson, Louisiana, for most of those years.
Suzette was a devout Christian and loved her Lord. She and Rick served the Lord while attending Summer Grove Baptist Church. She was happiest when she and Rick sang in the church choir together.
Those waiting at the Gates of Heaven to welcome our loving and sweet Suzette were her husband, (Patrick “Rick”); her father, (Cecil); her mother, (Shirley); her step-father, (Frank McGlathery); her brother, (Keith); and step-son, (Craig).
The loving family that are left behind to mourn her absence from their lives are her step-son, Scot and wife Rhonda; eight grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as their Granny, (Avery Shaw, Abby Shaw, Ben Shaw, Aubrey Shaw, Brock Shaw, Tyler Shaw, Levi Shaw, and Shelby Gray); nine great-grandchildren, (Katie Gray, Hayden Gray, Lennan Gray, Ellie Gray, Bryson Shaw, Kareigh Woodle, Kaaynon Woodle, Kollins Woodle, and Kraig Shaw); her brother, Ray and wife Roi Sue; nieces, (Amy Parker and Jamy Parker); great nephew, (Cody Smith); great niece, (Claire Parker); a very dear uncle and aunt; and numerous cousins.
Visitation will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive in Shreveport, Louisiana on Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Association.
Honoring Suzette as pallbearers will be Randy Roberts, Don Coleman, Cody Smith, Tyler Shaw, Levi Shaw, Ben Shaw, and Shelby Shaw. Honorary pallbearer will be Brock Shaw.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” John 14:1-4
